With the unveiling of the 2025 Mercedes-AMG E 53 HYBRID, the performance and sports car brand from Affalterbach introduces its latest plug-in hybrid model, blending outstanding performance and engaging driving dynamics with electric efficiency.

New Hybrid Performance

At the heart of the E 53 HYBRID's leap forward is the synergistic combination of the AMG-enhanced 3.0-litre inline six-cylinder turbocharged engine and a permanently excited synchronous electric motor. This duo generates a formidable combined system output of 577 hp (or 604 hp with the use of RACE START), alongside a peak torque of 553 lb-ft. Such power propels the car from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.8 seconds, with a top speed electronically capped at 280 km/h. Notably, it also supports purely electric driving up to 140 km/h.

The integration of a 161 hp electric motor within the AMG SPEEDSHIFT® TCT 9G transmission marks a significant technological advancement. This electric motor, notable for its high-power density achieved through permanently excited internal rotor synchronous technology, delivers 354 lb-ft of torque from the get-go, ensuring swift acceleration. A 400-volt, 28.6 kWh battery is strategically placed at the vehicle's rear, under the trunk floor, offering 21.2 kWh for everyday use, while reserving the remainder for electric boost during spirited drives.

Charging solutions are cutting-edge, with an 11 kW onboard AC charger and a 60 kW DC fast charger that can replenish the battery from 10% to 80% in around 20 minutes. The vehicle's recuperation capability, peaking at 120 kW, can be adjusted automatically or manually across three levels, further enhancing efficiency.

This powerhouse is founded upon the tried-and-tested AMG-enhanced 3.0-litre engine, now delivering 443 hp – up by 14 hp from its predecessor. Upgrades in both hardware and software, including a new twin-scroll turbocharger and optimized air intakes, have elevated its performance and responsiveness.

Advanced Chassis and Construction

To match its dynamic performance, the E 53 HYBRID's body shell has been re-engineered for increased rigidity, incorporating a strut brace for the front and additional struts for both front and rear, thereby enhancing lateral dynamics and driving precision.

Remarkable Connectivity

Inside, the E 53 HYBRID impresses with an optional MBUX Superscreen, AMG-specific displays, and hybrid-specific functions, ensuring a high-tech and luxurious driving experience. Standard features include power-adjustable AMG sports seats and a Nappa leather AMG performance steering wheel.

Set to arrive in Canada by the end of 2024, the 2025 Mercedes-AMG E 53 HYBRID is a testament to the fusion of high-performance engineering and advanced electric efficiency. It stands as a pinnacle of the E-Class evolution, offering a driving experience that is at once exhilarating, efficient, and unequivocally AMG.
