The All-New 2024 Mercedes-Benz eSprinter: Features and Pricing Explained

The 2024 Mercedes-Benz eSprinter is making its debut as the brand's first fully electric van for the North American market. Tailored for the Canadian audience, this new addition promises to combine the best of both worlds: the reliability and design of the conventional Sprinter and cutting-edge electric technology. Here's what prospective buyers need to know.

Model Description

At its market launch, the eSprinter will be available exclusively as a cargo van featuring a 170-inch wheelbase and a high roof. The van comes with a 113 kWh lithium/iron phosphate battery, which has a usable capacity. The technology behind this battery eliminates the use of any cobalt or nickel, making it both durable and environmentally friendly.

Charging and Range

When it comes to charging, the onboard AC charger outputs a maximum of 9.6 kW, taking approximately 12.3 hours for a full charge when connected to a wallbox. DC fast charging at standard maximum output is up to 50 kW. However, there's an optional upgrade that allows DC fast charging capacity of up to 115 kW, bringing down the charging time from 10% to 80% to just over 40 minutes.

The eSprinter also integrates with Mercedes me Charge, a platform offering access to numerous charging stations across a widespread network. Payment for these services is seamlessly integrated via the Mercedes me connect app.

Performance and Technology

The eSprinter incorporates three distinct drive programs: eco, comfort, and max range, as well as five recuperation stages aimed at optimizing electrical consumption and range. A special feature is its "D Auto" function, which automatically adjusts the energy recovery rate based on real-time traffic situations, using radar and navigation data.

Under the hood, the van features a permanent magnet synchronous motor available in two power levels: 100 kW (136 hp) and 150 kW (204 hp). Both offer a torque of up to 295 lb.-ft.

The interior isn't short on tech either. An optional Mercedes-Benz User Experience (MBUX) comes with Artificial Intelligence and can be operated via voice control, touchpad, or steering wheel controls. The system also includes optional Navigation with "Electric Intelligence," which aids in route planning based on real-time data.
